Svend Erik Tarp was a Danish composer. His musical idiom draws its inspiration from Sergej Prokofiev and the French composer group Les Six. The music is often entertaining and accessible.

From 1936 to 42 he was a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music. From 1936 onwards he was connected to the opera school of the Royal Theatre, and from 1939 to 47 he was employed by the University of Copenhagen.
